Vicar's letter March 2016
He is Risen!
EASTER DAY - a day for our triumph in Christ!
…But then Easter Day is followed by Monday, Tuesday etc. Life returns to its normal routine. For our triumph in Easter Day is hollow and empty if in the days following this triumph has not changed us, challenged us and confronted us.
'He is risen' - but much of our thoughts, words and deeds are still driving those nails into his Christ's body on the cross.
He is risen' - but the joys of life and loving, the feeling of self-worth and value lies buried in the tomb.
'He is risen' - but we are afraid and lock our experience of the risen Christ away from the world as the disciples did, hiding themselves from the world and the criticism that ensues in living the Risen Christ.
Which is why we need to pray that each one of us be filled with the life of God's Spirit, so that we can respond to the call of the living risen Christ to follow his teaching, his forgiving, his accepting and, at times, suffering way of love for others.
To live the triumph of Easter Day!
