Hawthorns Deli Knit & Natter Group
Knitting for Nepal May 2015
Hawthorns Deli on Bank Square in Wilmslow hosts a regular Knit & Natter Group open to all on Wednesday mornings. One of the founder members, Wilmslow resident Brenda Drabble heard about a project being organised by the Mothers Union to knit for Nepal.
The project by the Mothers Union is to support cadets from Cheshire Fire and Rescue service who will be travelling to Nepal in November 2015 where they will help build a school for children living high up in the mountains. The beanie hats and wrist warmers being knitted for the Mothers Union will be taken with the cadets and distributed to the children they meet.
The members of the Knit & Natter Group at Hawthorns Deli have knitted 30 sets of hats and wrist warmers which have been handed over to Sheila Rayner of the Mothers Union to give to the Fire & Rescue Service. In light of the recent earthquake tragedies in the area, the need for help is even greater and the members of the Knit & Natter group intend to continue knitting for Nepal.
